Our organizational details, including our EIN and IRS determination, will be published here once they are confirmed.
Copies of our IRS exemption application, determination letter and three most recent annual returns (Form 990) are available for public inspection on request, as required by federal law. Email info@sponsoraschool.org.
Tax deductibility & receipts
Sponsor-A-School is confirming its federal tax-exempt status. Until it is confirmed on our Legal & Transparency page, please check with your tax advisor before claiming a deduction.
Online donations are paid on PNC Bank's secure payment page, and PNC Bank confirms each payment. Sponsor-A-School sends every donor a written acknowledgment showing the amount and date of the gift and stating whether any goods or services were provided in exchange. For single gifts of $250 or more, the IRS requires this written acknowledgment to claim a deduction. Please consult your tax advisor about your own deduction.
Gift acceptance & refunds
Donations are used to buy new books and to support delivery, school visits and literacy programs.
Donors may choose specific books and name one or more schools or libraries. These choices are requests: Sponsor-A-School retains full discretion and control over the use of all donated funds, as required for charitable contributions. We make every effort to honor each request; if one cannot be filled, the gift supports similar books or a school or library with similar needs.
Monthly and annual gifts can be changed or canceled at any time. Just email us and we will stop future payments right away.
If you believe a donation was made in error, contact us within 30 days and we will review it for a refund. Refunded gifts are not tax-deductible.
State charitable solicitation disclosures
Several states require charities to register before soliciting donations from their residents. State-specific registration statements will be listed here as each registration is completed. Registration with a state does not imply endorsement, approval or recommendation by that state.
Non-discrimination
Sponsor-A-School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status in its programs, school selection, volunteer opportunities or employment.
Child safety & photo policy
We work with schools under their visitor and safety policies. Photos of students are published only with written permission from the school and parent or guardian, and we never publish students' full names or personal information.
Accessibility
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. If any part of this site is hard to use, please contact us and we will provide the information another way.
