Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use apply to www.sponsoraschool.org and every form on it. By using the site, or by ticking “I agree” and submitting a donation, nomination or contact form, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the forms.

You must be at least 18 years old, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to make a donation.

Who we are

Sponsor-A-School is a nonprofit children's literacy initiative that puts new books into public schools and libraries. Our legal and tax details are on our Legal & Transparency page.

Donations

• Donations are voluntary gifts. Online payments are made on PNC Bank's secure payment page and are also subject to PNC's terms and privacy policy. We never receive your full card or bank account number.
• Monthly and annual gifts repeat until you cancel. You can change or cancel a recurring gift at any time by emailing us, and we will stop future payments right away.
• Book choices and school or library designations are requests. Sponsor-A-School keeps full discretion and control over how donated funds are used, as required for charitable gifts, and may substitute similar books or recipients if a request cannot be filled.
• No goods or services are provided in exchange for a donation unless we say so in writing at the time of the gift.
• Gifts are final except as described in our gift acceptance and refund policy. If you believe a donation was made in error, contact us within 30 days.
• Online gifts must be between the minimum and maximum amounts shown on the donate page. For larger gifts, please contact us.

Information you give us

You agree that the information you submit is accurate and that you are allowed to share it. If you name a contact person at a school or library, share only their work contact details, and only if you reasonably believe they would be comfortable hearing from us about a book donation. Please do not send sensitive information (such as health, financial or student information) through our forms.

School and library search

The school and library search uses public directories from the U.S. Department of Education (NCES) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). These listings may be incomplete or out of date. A listing does not mean that a school or library is affiliated with us or has agreed to receive books; deliveries are coordinated with each school or library first.

Donor recognition

If you choose public recognition, we may show your name or display name, company, gift date, a link you provide and, only if you allow it, your gift amount. If you choose to give anonymously, we will never publish your name. We may decline to list any name, logo or link at our discretion, and you can ask us to change or remove your listing at any time.

Content and trademarks

The Sponsor-A-School name, logo and site content belong to Sponsor-A-School or its licensors. Book titles, covers and descriptions belong to their publishers and authors and are shown to help donors choose books. You may share links to our pages, but please do not copy our content or logos for other purposes without permission.

Acceptable use

Please do not misuse the site: no automated scraping or bulk searching, no attempts to overload or break our forms or search, no false or misleading submissions, and no messages that are abusive, unlawful or spam. We may limit or block access that breaks these rules.

Other websites and services

Links to other sites (such as PNC Bank, our publishing partner, government directories and social networks) are provided for convenience. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work to keep it accurate and available but do not guarantee that it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Sponsor-A-School is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law that cannot be waived.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Sponsor-A-School is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes and contact
